Our Natural World, Newcastle University, King's Hall

  • Kings Hall Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 7RU United Kingdom (map)

This 1-hour concert showcases music drawn from our natural world, including George Crumb’s enigmatic Vox Balaenae inspired by tape recordings of the humpback whale, now on the verge of extinction. Short films created by students in school workshops (with composer Laura Bowler and filmmaker Julian Hand) will also feature, with the Marsyas Trio playing live to the new graphic scores composed by the students themselves.

The Marsyas Trio visits the north-east in January for a series of secondary-school based composition workshops funded by contemporary music record label NMC and supported by Music Partnership North Newcastle and North Tyneside Music Education Hubs.

Tickets can be booked here!
